Ok I am now getting nervous. DD had her eeg last week and it was sheer hell! I got the eval notes from the ot who evaled her. She didn't have any other reccomendations per se. She is questioning a neuro disorder, well I feel like lets get on top of this situation in case mediclly there is something we should be doing. The tell me that I can't get the results untill tuesdy when the dr who ordered the test, I told them that I don't want to wait anymore, and when is her complete neuro exam gonna be... I hate being a pain but come on people!!!!!
What is the doctor looking for in an EEG. That is not a typical evaluation for an ASD child. Mine had a brain stem test, which is an eeg to see how he hears, but no other EEGs. Was it a neurologist who ordered it? What does an OT know about an EEG?
BTW, did the OT test for sensory integration dysfunction. Not all OTs are qualified to evaluate this.
My son also got an EEG to rule out seizures. He hated the feeling of those electrodes! Miserable experience.
We had a long evaluation process, with lots of waiting. November 2003 the pediatrician referred us to various specialists, and in August 2005 we finally got the diagnosis (Norway has socialized medicine, lots of waiting lists). So I can definitely sympathize with you.
In the meantime, I hope your child is getting at least some appropriate interventions.
Good luck with everything.
